Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring

  • Mühlner Motorsport (#921) with Arne Hoffmeister, David Jahn and Tim Scheerbarth repeat class victory in Cup 2
  • Heiko Eichenberg and Harley Haughton from SRS Team Sorg Rennsport (#959) also win the Cup 3 class again
  • Record starting field for the Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring with 31 entries

Nürburg. The Porsche Endurance Trophy Nürburgring (PETN) got off to a record start in its second race of the season as part of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS). The Porsche one-make series fielded 31 cars in the ADAC Ruhrpott-Trophy, making it the largest starting field so far. The class winners from the season opener repeated their successes in both classes. Mühlner Motorsport (#921) with Arne Hoffmeister, David Jahn and Tim Scheerbarth once again stood at the top of the podium in the Cup 2 class, while SRS Team Sorg Rennsport (#959) with Heiko Eichenberg and Harley Haughton won the Cup 3 class for the second time in a row.

After a short delay due to fog, qualifying for the second race of the season got underway in cool but sunny and dry conditions at 8:45 on Saturday morning. In the Cup 2 class, David Jahn from Mühlner Motorsport (#921) lapped the 24.358-kilometre combination of the short Grand Prix circuit loop and the Nordschleife in 8:13.847 minutes. Just like in the first race of the season, he secured the extra championship point for the Belgian team and his teammates Arne Hoffmeister and Tim Scheerbarth. In the Cup 3 class, David Griessner, Oskar Sandberg and Nico Silva were the fastest with a lap time of 8:47.674 minutes and started the second race of the season from pole position in their class.

Second victory in the second race for Mühlner Motorsport

Starting from pole position, Hoffmeister, Jahn and Scheerbarth dominated the Cup 2 class. In a race marked by yellow flag and Code 60 phases, the Mühlner Motorsport trio (#921) led the class for long stretches and managed to pull away at the front in the closing stages. With a lead of 44.483 seconds, they crossed the finish line ahead of 48 LOSCH Motorsport by BLACK FALCON (#948) with Tobias Müller, Noah Nagelsdiek and Carlos Rivas. Third place went to Fidel Leib and Tobias Vazquez-Garcia in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) from KKrämer Racing (#929).

„Second pole position and second race win in a row – we are really happy. It's a great start to the season for us and we are already looking forward to race three in two weeks,” said Tim Scheerbarth.

The PRO/AM classification in the Cup 2 class was won by Peter Ludwig and Maik Rosenberg with PRO-driver Alexander Hardt from BLACK FALCON Team ZIMMERMANN (#900), followed by Robin Chrzanowski, Kersten Jodexnis and Peter Scharmach from ClickversicherungTeam (#919). The trio won the AM classification as the highest-placed all-amateur driver pairing. Third place in the PRO/AM classification went to Ralf-Peter Bonk and Marco van Ramshorst from pb performance (#906).

„We are really happy with the PRO/AM win. This weekend was not ideal with less tracktime during practice yesterday but the car was great out of the box thanks to Black Falcon and we made the most out of it”, summarizes Peter Ludwig.

Sorg Rennsport wins in highly competitive Cup 3 class

After Adrenalin Motorsport Team Mainhattan Wheels (#940) started the race from pole position with David Griessner, Oskar Sandberg and Nico Silva, the team initially managed to hold on to the lead in the class until the class winners from the season opener, SRS Team Sorg Rennsport (#959) with Heiko Eichenberg and Harley Haughton, joined the battle for victory. In the end, Eichenberg and PETN Talent Pool participant Haughton prevailed against the strong competition and won the class ahead of the pole-setters. Nico Bastian and Janis Waldow completed the podium in the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS (982) from Mühlner Motorsport (#939).

„I had a great stint and Heiko was really quick as well. It was a great race and the team did a great job. Besides the missing pole position and fastest lap today this is pretty much the perfect start of the season. We are really happy about the second win in a row“, says Harley Haughton.

In the PRO/AM classification, the race was only decided on the final lap. Speedworxx Automotive (#955) with Franz Linden and Rüdiger Schicht, who shared the car with PRO-driver Alexander Fielenbach, took the lead on the final lap and secured class victory. The team, which is competing in the PETN for the first full season this year, thus secured its first victory in only its second race of the season.

„Alex got off to a great start and Rüdiger's stint was also very good. I was then able to close up on Schmickler's Cayman at the back and saw my chance to pass in the first corner on the final lap. It's really great to win the race, especially after the bad luck we had in the first race,” summarised Franz Linden.

Horst Baumann and Markus Schmickler crossed the finish line behind start number 955 with PRO-driver Stefan Schmickler from Schmickler Performance (#950). Joshua Hislop, Tommy Gräberg and Jan-Niklas Stieler from SRS Team Sorg Rennsport (#969) took third place. As the best-placed AM driver pairing in the Cup 3 class, the trio also secured victory in the AM classification. This meant that Hislop and Stieler were two more PETN Talent Pool participants to emerge victorious this weekend.

After a two-week break, the third race of the PETN season is scheduled for 10 May. The 56th Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy will cover a distance of four hours.
